We are the People (The Road to Derry Town) by Callinan – Flynn, about the People’s Democracy, march from Belfast to Derry in 1969.

The first major confrontation between Civil Rights activists and the RUC occurred in Derry on 5 October 1968, when a  Civil Rights march was baton-charged by RUC. In January 1969 the People’s Democracy, a radical left-wing group, staged a march from Belfast to Derry.
