A rare photograph of three Irish Republicans from Cork, Tomas MacCurtain, Mick McCarthy and Mick Fitzgibbon. In addition MacCurtain was the son of the Sinn Fein Mayor of Cork Tomás Mac Curtáin  assassinated  by the British in 1920.  The photograph was first published in the Cork Volunteers’ Pipe Band video part two By Jim Lane.

Jim Lane said “The above photo was taken at a George Plant Commemoration in Fethard-on-Sea, Co. Tipperary, in 1953. Tómas Mac Curtáin was on the left of the photo, Mick McCarthy in the centre and Mick Fitzgibbon on the right. All were from Cork, and all were either interned or imprisoned in the 1940’s. All have died since”.

Thank’s to Jim Lane for the use of the photo.
