Frank Keane the National Organiser of Saor Éire Action Group a left-wing republican group, spent a year in Brixton jail awaiting extradition proceedings to Ireland, for his alleged involvement in the killing of a Garda. He would eventually stand trial in Dublin and be acquitted. To publicise his case Saor Éire Action Group sent Defend Frank Keane! letters to left-wing and Anarchist newspapers and publications.
